ASPPA is a national organization of more than 7,500 retirement plan professionals who provide consulting and administrative services for qualified retirement plans covering millions of American workers. ASPPA members are retirement professionals of all disciplines, including consultants, investment professionals, administrators, actuaries, accountants and attorneys. Our large and broad-based membership gives ASPPA unique insight into current practical applications of ERISA and qualified retirement plans, with a particular focus on the issues faced by small- to medium-sized employers. ASPPA is located in Arlington, Virginia, near the Ballston Metro.
Key responsibilities
Responsibilities will include:
- Develop and execute strategies to identify, recruit, motivate, train and activate targeted ASPPA members to serve as grasstops contacts with their federal elected representatives.
- Cultivate and maintain good working relationships with ASPPA grasstops contacts.
- Develop communications, training and recognition programs to motivate and regularly inform grasstops contacts about their role and responsibilities.
- Plan and execute grassroots campaigns that support ASPPA legislative initiatives.
- Develop metrics for evaluating grasstops program.
- Identify synergies between grasstops program and ASPPA PAC and coordinate mutual initiatives.
Qualifications
Skills: Must be capable of planning and implementing grasstops strategy, and developing positive working relationships with ASPPA members and external constituencies. The position requires a self-starting team player with good writing and speaking skills, good organizational and follow-through skills, as well as the ability to take direction from different superiors and prioritize multiple tasks on very different matters. Must be comfortable meeting new people and speaking up at a public forum. Must be willing to travel.
Experience: Minimum 3 years experience managing a corporate or association grassroots program and familiarity with the federal legislative process.
Education: College degree required. Advanced degree preferred but not required - experience strongly considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
