PMI is seeking an experienced professional to develop and maintain PMI's relationships with U.S. federal governmental entities to expand the incorporation of project management practices within organizations that deploy project management. Serve as a link and resource in bridging effective relationships and strategic alliances between PMI departments and U.S. federal government entities.
Create and cultivate alignment and development of relationships with U.S. federal government to assure market understanding, customer satisfaction and mutually beneficial relationships that progress the profession overall, and support the expansion and enhancement of the body of knowledge. Promote advocacy, outreach, and advancement of the strategic plan through development and implementation of integration strategies for project management in federal government entities. Assure market penetration, progress, and positive development of programs, products and services aligned with organization and operational strategy. Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of a detailed administration plan, budget and schedule for the operation of PMI's U.S. federal government relations program to increase PMI's influence within the U.S. federal government sector. May include strategic alliances between PMI and organizations; the alignment of organizations with PMI's standards and certification; and PMI's representation in discussions, forums and activities related to project management practices within organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or other relevant field. Master of Business Administration or related degree strongly preferred.
- At least five years of progressively responsible experience in government relations, public affairs, or outreach and advocacy with demonstrated results in broadening markets; research and development; relationship building and related business development activities.
- Strong relationship management skills, including the ability to work with individuals in prominent and influential positions across diverse sectors and cultures.
- Strong listening and data collection skills.
- Proven planning and prioritization skills in building and implementing long-range and long-term actions and relationships.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple, concurrent tasks, as well as prioritize actions as relationship opportunities evolve.
- Strong problem-solving ability and sound business judgment in assessing multiple competing opportunities.
- Event planning experience. Experience and self-reliance to perform and coordinate associated administrative activities and processes.
- Ability to see the big picture and develop long range strategies while attending to details.
- Knowledge, experience, and ability to travel domestically, including weekends and/or holidays. Must be available to travel; 10- 20% with trips of up to one week in duration.
