ASME, the global leader in standards, has an excellent opportunity for an experienced government relations professional in our Washington DC office. The incumbent will be responsible for identifying opportunities and providing advice on strategies for effective interaction with the federal government and Congress on standards, research and development and other public policy issues relating to engineering, science and technology. This individual will analyze legislative and regulatory issues; lead and build relations with coalitions; initiate actions and provide direction and counsel on effective ways of contributing ASME input to policy debates; arrange for communication of ASME views to the federal government through testimony, position statements, letters, meetings and other means such as organizing visitations between ASME members and government officials.
Candidate must have a strong understanding of the legislative process with a minimum of 5 years experience in addressing advocacy at the national level. Capitol Hill experience preferred.
