Government Relations Associate Director

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) seeks a full-time Government Relations Associate Director.

The AEI government relations team supports a community of some of America's most accomplished public policy experts committed to expanding liberty, increasing individual opportunity, and strengthening free enterprise. The ideal candidate has significant experience as a congressional staffer and can also navigate the academic world and promote independent thinking, open debate, reasoned argument, facts, and the highest level of research and exposition.

The Associate Director will work as part of the government relations team to devise effective, educational written communications, events, and meetings as well as build and maintain relationships with congressional offices. Requirements of the position include excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a flexible, organized, and enthusiastic personality. At least two years of work experience directly related to the legislative or executive branch policymaking process is required, with committee experience and more than five years of work experience on Capitol Hill strongly preferred.

AEI is a private, nonpartisan, not-for-profit institution that considers public policy issues in an educational manner and does not engage in lobbying.
