The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has an exciting opportunity for a manager to work with our Government & Legal Affairs team providing a liaison role to CEA's GAC and supporting our public policy issues affecting the consumer electronics (CE) industry.
Essential functions
• Monitor federal legislation, regulations and business trends impacting the consumer electronics industry. Conduct research and write memoranda, articles and position papers on these issues.
• Execute and manage all grassroots campaigns and database.
• Coordinate CEA Government Affairs Council (GAC) and the Home Recording Rights Coalition (HRRC) meetings, conference calls and updates. Ensure timely posting of meeting notices, minutes, and agendas. Write and produce the CEA Government Alert.
• Manage and organize CEA Member Lobbying Days.
• Represent association at events, including political fundraisers and industry meetings.
• Attend and report on Congressional hearings and other policy briefings.
• Serve as Government Affairs liaison to CEA working groups and divisions.
• Manage Public Policy section of CE.org Web site. Ensure that information on the Web site is up-to-date and accurate.
• Support development of CEA program for government guests attending the industry's annual trade show, International CES.
• Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, etc.
• Other duties as required by business needs.
Education & Experience
• Five to seven (5-7) years of related work experience working on legislative or regulatory issues and/or technology industry experience.
• Bachelors Degree in Political Science or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Strong knowledge of the political process.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Vocus and Capital Advantage a plus.
• Effective written and verbal communications skills in public speaking, presentations, and written reports.
• Excellent interpersonal relationship skills, particularly on the telephone.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple issues, priorities and tasks, and the ability to work reliably on complex projects with tight deadlines.
