This is a full-time position in the DMA Washington, DC office, and reports to the Executive Vice President, Government Affairs.
Essential Functions:
Research potential members for the Direct Marketing Association via an advocacy marketing strategy.
Leverage social media to identify potential members.
Assist in planning and orientation of government affairs-related membership events.
Work with the Marketing and Membership teams to formulate Government Affairs marketing materials.
Maintain a database of current and potential member companies contacts.
Write, edit and publish documents, including marketing and communications materials.
Coordinate meetings with potential member organizations for the EVP, Government Affairs and SVP, Membership.
Prepare regular status reports.
Thoroughly ground himself/herself in the daily activities of the Government Affairs team, and formulate marketing and recruiting materials from current issue developments.
Serve as the initial contact for potential new members within the DMA.
Create and distribute Government Affairs membership kits.
Skills and Experience:
Excellent skills in online and print research.
Excellent and quick writer.
Experience as a Capitol Hill or Government Affairs intern in a Washington DC-based corporate office or trade association.
Thorough understanding of the legislative process.
Ability to work independently on deadline-critical projects.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Ability to communicate persuasively orally and in writing.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Knowledge of html a plus.
High-energy creative thinker.
Bachelors Degree.
