Government Affairs
* For assigned states develop and maintain effective relationships with key state elected officials, their staff, and other government officials (as assigned by state).
* Educate elected officials, their staff, and others on the association's position on legislative issues.
* For assigned states participate in developing and implementing advocacy strategies that impact legislative initiatives.
* Identify, monitor and track congressional activity that would benefit or adversely affect the design community.
* Represent ASID at political, congressional and design profession stakeholder meetings, etc as needed.
* For assigned states assist with development and implementation of ASID's grassroots program. Respond to ASID's member questions via letter, phone and email.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent should have 1-2 years of experience in hands-on management of legislative activities and the ability to learn the process for preparation of issue statements, papers, testimony, grassroots, campaigns, and meetings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Knowledge of, and/or experience in building policy is preferred. Incumbent must hold a bachelors degree from an accredited institution in political science, communication or a related field.
