Government Affairs Director

DEPARTMENT: International President's Office

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience plus generous benefit package

LOCATION: Washington, DC

STATUS: Exempt

The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO (AFA-CWA) has a job vacancy for the position of Government Affairs Director. This position reports to the International President.

The Government Affairs Director will provide expertise to and support for the Association in the legislative, political and grassroots fields by providing continuing information on related matters, by actively promoting AFA concerns and viewpoints, and by influencing members of Congress.

Position requires a college degree (preferably in the field of Government/U.S. History/English) and a minimum four (4) years experience in lobbying and/or Congressional staff work. Training, education and/or experience in labor unions or labor issues, the airline industry, the flight attendant profession and political action committees is a plus. Must have good writing, communication, and computer skills. Requires ability to deal effectively with a variety of people, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Travel is required.
