Position Summary : |
The Environmental and Public Affairs Manager is responsible for the compilation and interpretation of reporting requirements mandated by local, state and federal regulations and permits as well as internal Lafarge standards. Working with other department heads at the plant, the selected candidate assists in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures and compliance strategies that ensure that the internal Lafarge Environmental Management System requirements are met. As the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, the Environmental and Public Affairs Manager is responsible for obtaining and modifying permits for all media (air, water, waste). The Environmental and Public Affairs Manager will provide support to the Plant Manager and take responsibility for the administration of the plant's public affairs plan, as well as advise the management team on the implementation of that plan. Additional responsibilities include leading the plant team in obtaining ISO 14001 certification and participating as a key member of the project group working to acquire a new plant flexible fuel permit that will include Fuel Quality Waste. |

QUALIFICATIONS |

Educational Background : |
Bachelors Degree in Environmental Sciences or related field. Master's degree preferred |
|
Experience : |
Minimum of five to eight years of progressive environmental responsibility in a heavy manufacturing setting, state/federal regulatory agency, or consulting firm. Experience in Clean Air Act compliance and permitting is required. Experience in storm water permitting and management of a solid waste program is also preferred. Strong communications and leadership skills; a track record of innovative approaches to problem solving and achieving full regulatory compliance is a must; experience in working with community groups as well as the development and implementation of public relations programs. |
