EABC Policy Manager

The European-American Business Council seeks to hire a Policy Manager for their Washington Office.  One to three years of Washington experience in business-related policy management and advocacy is required. Exposure to current Trans-Atlantic commercial policy discussions is highly desirable.  This is not an entry level position. The EABC is a member-driven association. Member company executives lead our Policy Groups and advocacy. 

The EABC is a not-for-profit, non-partisan business organization, founded by major US and European companies in 1990 "to promote Trans-Atlantic economic growth".  The Council has 75 member companies with global headquarters in Europe, the United States and Canada.  The Council has 12 Policy Groups, and offers its members ~50 EABC Forums, Policy Briefings and Policy Workshops annually in Brussels, London, Washington, New York, Ottawa and Toronto.  These EABC policy programs involve senior European, American and Canadian government officials in robust policy discussions with our members.   A fast-paced work environment! 

The Policy Manager will serve on a four-member policy team with another Policy Manager, the EABC Europe Director, and the EABC President.  The Policy Manager will help manage EABC Policy Groups, as well as support various policy initiatives.  The Policy Manager must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken word with a wide range of senior company and association executives, diplomats, scholars and government officials. 

Desired Qualifications: 

Ø  1-3 years of business-related policy experience in Washington. 

Ø  Possess a strong pro-trade, pro-investment, pro-business economic philosophy.

Ø  A strong propensity to "own" their work and take the initiative.

Ø  Meeting management experience.

Ø  Possession of solid judgment and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives. 

Ø  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ø  Knowledge of current EU, US and Canadian commercial policy debates.

Ø  Familiarity with the private sector, the EU, US and Canadian governments, as well as other Brussels, Washington and Ottawa institutions.

Ø  Computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook & the Internet.

Ø  Must be a US citizen or a US green card holder upon application.
