This senior position directs and manages legislative and regulatory issues critical to Cargill's operations, reputation, and policy priorities. This position involves policy analysis, strategic planning, and advocacy of legislative and regulatory policy and objectives that are important to Cargill and its agricultural origination, trading, and processing businesses.

This position involves regularly working with Members of Congress, the US Senate, and senior officials of the Executive Branch.

The position interacts with senior Business Unit, Platform, and Corporate Leadership Team members in establishing and communicating Cargill's policy goals and objectives. The position also interacts heavily with Cargill's trade associations and supports external customer relationships.

Primary accountabilities:

60% Develop corporate positioning and advocacy strategies for Cargill's involvement in agricultural policy.

30% Manage coalitions and trade association activities in support of company policy objectives.

5% Develop corporate positioning and advocacy strategies for Cargill's involvement in transportation policy.

5% Develop corporate positioning and advocacy strategies for Cargill's involvement in biotechnology policy.

Required:

- Bachelor's Degree

- Minimum 5 - 7 years in federal policy, legislative and regulatory affairs

- Comprehensive understanding of US federal policy development and implementation processes

- Strong learning capacity and understanding of the business environment

- Independent decision-maker

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Self starter and effective problem solver with strong analytic skills

- Ability to set priorities

- Strong communication skills

- Some travel required

Preferred:

- Master's Degree

- Federal government advocacy and strategy development
