Manage all aspects of all Feeding America social policy and hunger-related research projects, including data collection and analysis. Provide strategic counsel to SVP on research priorities and respond to other departments' research inquiries and needs. Monitor, provide analysis and maintain virtual library of private and government-sponsored research regarding hunger, food insecurity, emergency food providers and low-income people. Provide research and data analysis-related technical assistance to Members and agencies; assist Members and state food bank associations in their own policy analysis efforts at the state and local levels. Collaborating with the internal research function to help ensure that internal research, including Network activity reports and data analysis supports organizational social policy and external research needs. Provide regular and timely communication and education to Members regarding self-reported as well as hunger and poverty related research. Manage and oversee all daily aspects of quadrennial Feeding America Hunger Study; including the selection of the survey research firm, survey and sample design, data collection, data analysis and data dissemination to Members, policy makers and the general public. Serve as staff liaison to the Feeding America Hunger Study Technical Advisory Group. Manage the development and production of yearly Hunger Almanac. Oversee public opinion polling activities. Draft articles and policy papers for inclusion in national and local journals. Work with research consultants on developing external outside research for publication on our website and dissemination to our Network and stakeholders. Educate policy makers, other organizations and the general public about the nature of domestic hunger, the demographic profiles of those affected by it and its possible solutions. Research, write and edit fact sheets, speeches, policy memorandums and other communications and publications from the national office. Represent Feeding America at research-related and policy hearings, forums and similar events.
BA/BS. Advanced degree in social science field preferred 7 plus year experience in research/policy analysis, public advocacy or related public policy work with 4 plus years in management. Must have strong knowledge and in-depth understanding of the methods and principles of social science research. Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills. Capitol Hill, political campaign, and state government or issue advocacy experience strongly preferred. Ability to think creatively and strategically as part of a team and within broad coalitions. Must be proficient in MS Office. Committed to organizational mission to ending hunger.
