The National Multi Housing Council, a trade association serving the largest and most prominent firms in the apartment industry, is searching for a highly creative and enthusiastic individual Director of Public Relations.  

The position is responsible for developing and executing an integrated public relations strategy to create a positive perception of the apartment industry with key audiences, including lawmakers and consumers making housing decisions.

In this high visibility position which reports to the Vice President of Communications, the candidate will serve as the primary media contact, develop and pitch story ideas and build relationships with national business, consumer and trade press.  He/she will also produce news releases, media briefs, advocacy ads and other collateral materials and will leverage social and new media to expand the Council's outreach.

The ideal candidate will have a college degree and eight plus years of experience as a communications professional with a minimum of five years in public relations, including holding position as driver of strategic PR initiatives.  Candidate must be a strategic-thinker with a high level of initiative and a record of proven results.  Ability to work with urgent deadlines and multiple high-priority assignments a must.  A limited amount of travel is required.
