Director, Program Communications

The position is responsible for communicating member value through American Chemistry Council (ACC) programmatic benefits, including Responsible Care, CHEMTREC, Transcaer and Economics and Statistics. The position is responsible for developing and producing integrated, strategic messages for internal and external audiences. The position reports directly to the Senior Director, Member Communications and Marketing.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops, fosters and maintains strong relationships with internal clients, members and targeted media outlets.
  • Develops and executes targeted communications and marketing tactics in support of ACC programs (e.g., Responsible Care, CHEMTREC, Transcaer, Economics and Statistics, and ICCA/Global support).
  • Supports the Vice President Communications in role as ICCA CWG chairman and Chief Executive Officer as ICCA Council Secretary.
  • Collaborates with other Advocacy Communications employees for purposes of ensuring the alignment of program communications to overall ACC messaging strategy.
  • Develops messages on benefits of select ACC programs, in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism or related field.
  • Seven years of relevant professional experience.
  • Two years of experience in a political or policy advocacy organization is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, as well as the ability to give internal and public presentations.
  • Ability to process technical and abstract verbal and written information to establish beneficial messaging framework and implement action plans.
  • Ability to work independently on a variety of projects with competing tasks/priorities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and internet research skills.
