Opportunity Profile:
Dey Pharma, a subsidiary of Mylan, is a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the development, manufacturing and marketing of prescription drug products for the treatment of respiratory diseases, severe allergic reactions and psychiatric disorders. The Director, Professional Affairs is responsible for advancing brand positioning within the public sector by means of increased brand and disease state awareness and public efforts. The position is responsible for developing, reviewing, and administering professional (peer-to-peer) programming designed to foster close working relationships between Dey and Practitioners, Key Opinion Leaders and Professional Organizations.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identify, establish and build relationships with patient advocacy groups, AANMA, FAAN, AAI, AAFA and other associations including but not limited to American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, State Board of Pharmacy, AphA etc. Strengthen existing and identify new key stakeholder relationships, coalitions, opinion leaders and policy/research organizations.
- Awareness and understanding of federal and state legislation, regulations and pharmacy practice laws that may affect Dey's interests, including generic substitution, negative formularies, DAW issues, etc. and track/monitor the progress of legislation and/or regulation. Work in partnership to manage the identification and research of potential legislation that may affect Dey's interests and develop strategies for acting on this legislation that will result in the best possible outcome for Dey.
- Awareness of the regulatory environment as it pertains to the Dey products and maintain knowledge of regulatory guidelines.
- Work in partnership and collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory to impact Dey's business interests.
- Partner with Government and Federal Relations as Dey representative. Research and review information regarding Medicare Part B and D formulary and reimbursement updates reviewing for purposes of Portfolio Management by tracking trends in therapeutic categories and to assist customer service and national account managers as needed with patient questions on Medicare Part B and D coverage.
- Develop and implement public policy strategies for continuous advancement of Dey's efforts and increase government awareness of disease state and products.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management. Effectively lead cross-functional teams and manage through project priorities and defined timelines to deliver on specific business objectives. Ensure appropriate allocation of resources, capabilities and processes.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of current trends, participating in professional groups, and researching pertinent professional literature / clinical research claims that relate to our business model.
Qualifications:
- Trained/experienced in project management. Proven success in managing in a matrix organization and managing highly visible projects.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate the public policy arena and implement strategic solutions to achieve business priority public policy initiatives.
- Working knowledge of pharmaceutical industry practices.
- Demonstrated understanding of and solid experience with federal and state legislative and regulatory processes and grassroots activities.
- Ability to apply a wide range of theories and concepts in related fields (government relations, public policy and regulatory).
- Broad knowledge of Congress and state legislatures, legislative and regulatory policy.
- Ability to serve as an ambassador of Dey's brands - politically astute with excellent spoken and written communication skills.
