The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. We are currently seeking a Director of Political Action for our DC office.
Purpose
The Director of Political Action will be responsible for developing education/training programming; fundraising brochures, internet email solicitations, and other printed and virtual publications; and, executing strategies associated with fundraising for both the American Hospital Association Political Action committee (AHAPAC) and the national Coalition to Protect America's Health Care. The Director will also support the political and legislative goals of the American Hospital Association.
Essential Functions
Demonstrated knowledge regarding FEC compliance matters.
Ability to advise state association partners regarding FEC compliance laws and regulations.
AHAPAC Fundraising experience a plus.
Design and implement innovative fundraising activities in coordination with the state hospital associations.
Assist state hospital associations in designing and updating fundraising plans.
Develop and plan fundraising events for members of Congress.
Design and implement plan to broaden the base of AHAPAC contributors from hospitals and hospital systems.
Maintain liaison with state association PAC fundraising staff and state association CEOs, including chairing a monthly conference call for state association PAC contacts.
Meet with association and member audiences about importance of PAC.
Coalition to Protect America's Health Care: Design and implement fundraising initiatives to raise funds from hospitals, associations and business.
Design an appreciation program to recognize contributors.
Education and Training: Assume primary responsibility for program development, site selection, agenda planning and materials development for periodic AHAPAC/grassroots summer retreat.
Develop training for state association personnel and AHA members on effective fundraising techniques.
AHAPAC Event Management: Contribute to planning and execution of AHAPAC-sponsored events during Annual Meeting and throughout the year, including but not limited to the AHAPAC appreciation lunch, Ben Franklin Club appreciation reception, and reception for state PAC Contact/Grassroots reception.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years work experience in fundraising and legislative/political affairs.
Specific knowledge required: Track record in both PAC and general fundraising.
Familiarity with operation of Washington-based PACs.
Knowledge of FEC regulations as they apply to PAC fundraising and ability to advise state association partners re: FEC compliance.
