In this high visibility position, the candidate will respond to media requests and serve as the spokesperson on relevant FMI subjects; press outreach, promotion and response; and develop and implement strategic media outreach plans in support of FMI's Government & Public Affair's issues. Candidate will write news releases, statements, media briefs, talking points and key messages about FMI's conferences, products and services. Other duties include coordinating daily media inquiries, facilitating interviews of key FMI spokespeople, building sales and promoting offerings, managing the news centers at annual trade convention, serving as an FMI spokesperson, building relationships with media and handling related budget oversight. This position offers a variety of tasks that are all critical to FMI's business.
The ideal candidate will have a college degree and/or work experience in public relations, journalism and/or media relations. Candidate must be a strategic-thinker who is organized with knowledge of media resources and news monitoring, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong time management skills, the ability to adapt quickly to new situations and knowledge of AP Style is preferred. Candidate must be able to travel to FMI conventions and conferences. Previous experience working on Capitol Hill or in a public relations firm is a big plus!
