Job Description Director, Health Care Reform Implementation will serve as operations lead and public affairs advisor for the Health Care Reform Implementation (HCRI) Project. The candidate will direct operational and organizational activities for the HCRI Project as well as work with HCRI policy teams to provide strategic and tactical advice, under the direction of the Senior Director and Team Lead, HCRI. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all operational deliverables of the project are achieved as well as working within the project framework to ensure that project goals remain linked to business objectives.
- Responsible for providing leadership and direction of cross-functional, cross-divisional HCRI teams and for functioning as the interface between the teams and the HCRI leadership.
- Works across functions and divisions to ensure effective design and execution of work teams for the cross-functional teams.
- Works with each functional team to drive development and implementation of public affairs strategies.
- Demonstrates experience in and clear understanding of political and policy environment in order to seize opportunities and identify challenges relevant to Pfizer's HCRI priorities; proactively works with functional teams to incorporate environmental changes into strategies and tactics.
- Drives work with field operation on priority issues; works with field team leaders to develop effective public affairs and policy campaigns to impact environment.
- Serves as lead interface with HCRI public affairs agency; ensures on-time and appropriate deliverables, aligned with HCRI priorities.
- Partners with communications colleagues to drive internal awareness and understanding of HCRI activities, including development of Pfizer World articles, the Envoy program, and other content as needed.
- Serves as organizational lead for project, including designing meeting agendas, tracking team milestones, managing special projects and preparing updates for senior leaders.
- Proactively surfaces issues related to HCRI deliverables and achieving milestones and independently identifies plans to mitigate deviations from approved strategies and tactics.
- Ensures support and input from appropriate stakeholders and ensures input is obtained to aid swift and informed decision-making.
- Has a clear understanding of the relationships and interdependencies of team members, departments, and divisions.
- Maintains overall HCRI project plans and project information.
- 5+ years in public affairs/policy roles required, 7+ preferred.
- 4+ years in health care/pharmaceutical industry essential.
- Demonstrated experience in negotiating and responding to dynamic political environments required.
- Significant experience in effective team management, leadership, conflict resolution, managing negotiations, project planning and project management required.
- Masters degree or equivalent strongly preferred.
- Ability to lead others and build relationships imperative.
- Experience working collaboratively and effectively with others highly valued.
- Superior interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills, including strong presentation and facilitation skills, highly valued.
