Details The National Restaurant Association, the leading trade association for the restaurant industry is currently recruiting for a VP, Political Affairs position in our Public Affairs Group.

Essential Job Duties:
1. Partners with Vice President, Political Affairs to set overall strategy and goals that advance NRA's legislative portfolio. Creates and executes effective federal campaigns on behalf of NRA membership along the four issue imperatives. Prepares and presents positions on legislative issues and policies of importance to the industry to House, Senate, and Administration to advance the goals of the Association. Prepare testimony and position papers. Extensive background and knowledge of Capital Hill.
2. Effectively manages and proactively works to enhance key Government Affairs program initiatives. Develops and executes government relations strategies that leverage allied stakeholders and NRA members in delivering on imperatives. Develops political strategies to turn programs into viable federal and state policy.
3. Monitors and coordinates with state restaurant associations to identify legislation initiatives that could impact the restaurant industry.
4. Proactively reaches out to NRA chain members on Government Affairs program initiatives along the four imperatives. Develops and coordinates strategy with chain members and state restaurant associations. Responds to inquiries from NRA chain members, provides information and assistance. Prepares and presents educational seminars to aid NRA members in complying with laws and regulations. Communicates regularly with chain members regarding legislative issues affecting the industry.
5. Provides strategic and tactical advice on public policy issues to VP, Political Affairs and EVP, Public Affairs. Coordinate, guide and provide strategic and tactical support for activities carried out by imperative managers/policy analysts.
6. Identifies, analyzes and monitors federal and state legislation to determine the impact on NRA members relating to NRA's four imperatives in coordination with Research, State Affairs and Imperative groups. Makes recommendations regarding key legislative issues. Lead, manage and develop multi-issue and/or cross-cutting legislative products.
7. Represents NRA at various meetings and committees and collaborates with allied trade associations to promote common goals. Identifies potential supporters, and devises strategies to develop these relationships. Serve as spokesperson for coalition efforts and collaborations.
8. Elevate NRA's position and influence with lawmakers and congressional staff by cultivating and strengthening key relationships.
9. Provide regular and timely updates to Association members, Board, and leadership. Facilitate responses to questions by Association Members, Board and leadership.
