Director of Government Relations

Use a wide range of strategic, analytic, legislative and political skills to help craft and implement a strategies to that increases both private and government food and funds for Members, leads to state and federal regulations and laws that aim to reduce domestic hunger, increases participation in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, and positions Feeding America as the leading authority on hunger and hunger-related issues.

BA/BS. Advanced degree in government affairs, law, political science, public policy, sociology or social work strongly preferred. 7+ years experience in public advocacy, public policy or policy analysis with 4+ years in management required. Must have significant Capitol Hill, political campaign, federal and state government and/or issue advocacy experience. Experience in working with federal programs; Supplemental Food Assistance Program preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong understanding of the federal and state legislative and regulatory processes and congressional committee structure. Ability to think creatively and strategically as part of a team and within broad coalitions. Proficient in MS Office applications. 10% - 20% travel required. Committed to organizational mission of ending hunger.
