SUMMARY: The Director of Government and Public Affairs is responsible for
overseeing SfN legislative and policy advocacy activities to advance
neuroscience research in the U.S. and internationally. With input and guidance
from volunteer leadership and senior staff, the Director will work to: 1)
promote and increase U.S. federal funding for science, with a particular focus
on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and National Science Foundation
(NSF); 2) advance and protect policies that facilitate research, such as
responsible animal research and stem cell research; and 3) collaborate with
other domestic and international organizations to enhance coordination on
advocacy agendas and activities.
