BD Medical Surgical Systems is currently looking for a Director of Global Health Policy and Practice in our Franklin Lakes, New Jersey location. BD Medical is among the world's leading suppliers of medical devices and a leading innovator in injection and infusion-based drug delivery since 1906, when the Company built the first-ever facility in the U.S. to manufacture needles and syringes. The BD Medical segment is focused on providing innovative solutions to reduce the spread of infection, enhance diabetes treatment, advance drug delivery and improve ophthalmic surgery outcomes.
This position will coordinate the development and execution of a global strategy for creating awareness leading to coordinated efforts of BD partnering with key stakeholders to drive towards comprehensive solutions to identified health care issues (example - eliminating reuse of syringes). The focus of this role will be international markets, outside of the US.
Some of the key areas of focus for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Create awareness among key stakeholders at each selected country / region around important public health issues related to patient and healthcare worker safety.
- Connect with global health funding agencies, key opinion leaders, governments and NGOs to drive alignment and policy towards finding comprehensive solutions to key public health issues
- Lead internal strategy development, including a process for global and country gap analysis and a strategic roadmap to drive policy change.
- Working with both internal Company and external stakeholders will be essential to success.
- Participation in Company efforts to develop advocacy capabilities for the Company in selected regions outside of the US.
- Assembling the health economic and clinical data required for advocacy efforts from internal Company and external resources.
We require the following qualifications:
- BA/BS in Public Policy, Public Health, Political Science or related field. An advanced degree is preferred.
- 7 years of experience working in an externally facing role in the life science industry, a healthcare-related NGO, a global health agency or ministry of health.
- A minimum of 5 years experience working outside of the US or working on global health or international healthcare issues
- Demonstrated track record of achieving advocacy objectives that both improve public health and support patient access to medical technologies.
- Significant experience in building coalitions is required.
- Proven success in developing relationships of mutual trust and partnership with key opinion leaders, and government agencies.
- Identifiable success in developing and implementing advocacy plans.
- Proven ability to weave/merge together relevant issues to create the big picture and have the skills to get things done
