Director of Corporate Relations

Essential Job Functions:
  • Work with Vice President of Development to develop annual objectives to be measured and evaluated quarterly.
  • Research, identify, and cultivate current and prospective corporate funding sources for six figure gifts.
  • Maintain a large portfolio of active and potential sponsors and corporate funders. Portfolio management includes specific cultivation plans and establishment of measurable goals for acquisition of new business
  • Work with colleagues to develop persuasive sponsorship or funding proposals for new and renewed funding support, and manage corporate relatsions with key contacts.
  • Establish excellence in Operation Homefront's approach to corporate account management; build effective systems and processes and incorporate key activities such as volunteer engagement and ongoing communication.
  • Manage and expand cause-related marketing relationships with corporate partners; manage the expansion of workplace giving and matching gifts with corporate partners.
  • Understand the business and marketing needs of corporations and develop strategies and tools to address them.
  • Innovate and expand existing approaches to inspire and deepen the engagement of corporate partners.
  • Develop briefing profiles on corporate donor and prospects.
  • Work with appropriate staff to build city, state or regional donor or prospect visits for the CEO.
  • Work closely with program and finance staff to develop and coordinate timely delivery of comprehensive sponsorship reports, project descriptions, evaluation plans and budgets to corporate donors and prospects.
  • Create and manage a grant or report submission calendar.
  • Create and maintain a development plan to include short and long term fundraising goals to include projections, progross and status tracking reports.
  • Arrange sponsors for national and regional initiatives and events, and solicit advertisers for the agency's online community.
  • Assist with other Operation Homefront development activities as needed.

Additional Work Skills Required:

  • Candidates for this position must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience writing or supervising the writing of high-level proposals and partnership agreements, expert in building corporate and cross-sectoral partnerships, managing corporate relationships, and securing corporate contributions and grants is required.
  • Experience with cause-marketing, development public relations and marketing strategies, and implementing cause-marketing plans.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and networking skills with large groups as well as with individuals as well as a demonstrated record of success in generating significant commitments from corporations.
  • Experience meeting with corporate leadership and program officers as well as experience working with board and key volunteer leadership and program staff required.
  • Must be able to prioritize and balance multiple responsibilities tasks/projects effectively; manage and motivate staff and volunteer leadership, work effectively in a complex organizational structure; and possess excellent communication, strategic thinking, organization, writing, editing and proofreading skills. Experience using Microsoft Office, research databases, and prospect management software required.
  • Some evening, travel and weekend work required. Expect to travel 30% of the time.
  • The candidate must be comfortable working within a team structure.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • This position requires a valid Driver's License and the use of the employee's own personal vehicle may at time be required. Proof of Liability Insurance is required;
  • Employee must have an extremely good driving record.
  • Maintaining a driving record that allows employee to satisfy insurability requirements is a condition of employment and the failure to do so will result in termination.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years experience with a proven successful track record of soliciting funds from corporate sponsors. S/he must be familiar with the corporate funding community, and possess an understanding of branding, public relations and special events.
