Position: Director of Communications, Asia Pacific
Location: Hong Kong
Reports to: Senior Vice President & Managing Director in Hong Kong, dotted line to Vice President of International Communications based in California
Position Summary
• Develop and implement Communications strategy in Asia Pacific
• Coordinate all Communications activity for SVP & Managing Director
• Serve as industry and media spokesperson
Areas of Responsibility
• Lead a proactive communications strategy, enhance/maintain the brand; set clear methods of measuring impact and contribution
• Leverage relationships with international trade and business media, key industry bodies; be a clear point of contact for disseminating messages
• Screen media requests, arrange interviews where required; prep executives, develop briefings, handle sensitive media situations
• Work with Corporate Communications stakeholders and PR teams to ensure message alignment
• Support clients from a Corp Comms perspective: oversight of deal announcements, strategic handling of relationship, reputation and issues management
• Engage with leadership team as both peer and advisor to understand and anticipate their activities, proactively maximise communication opportunities
• Update information materials regularly, external and internal announcements, newsletter articles, factsheets, internal reports
• Audit external PR agencies as required
Experience and Qualifications
• Minimum of 8-10 years successful professional and strategic corporate communications experience, preferably in Asia Pacific with MNC branded companies, in-house or PR firms. Exposure of media and television is considered of value
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Public Affairs, Journalism, Broadcast Communications or other relevant areas
• Knowledge of global TV distribution industry, strong contacts in international entertainment trade/regional media is helpful
• Understanding of and experience with digital and new media
• Demonstrated ability to build effective interpersonal internal/external partnerships
• Ability to work in a highly matrixed organization with strong strategic and creative thinking
• Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative and team-oriented environment, passion for diversity, inclusion and cultural sensitivity
• Understand brand values and market positioning
• Confidence to take charge in a crisis and prioritize multiple projects
• Experience in building overall brand visibility and reputation through high-impact media relations programs

• Creative thinker with exemplary English communicative skills; presentation, written and verbal
• Fluency is another Asian language is helpful
• Proactively identify publicity opportunities, disseminate messages and strategically enhance visibility

• Proven success in strategic communications, an innovative thought leader
