PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The position will foster and maintain relationships with key client decision makers including the states, congress and the administration with regard to government business opportunities, related policy initiatives of importance, and the creation of new markets or contract opportunities via legislation or regulatory work. Key functions will include coordinating SAP's outside consulting resources with our internal government relations and State and Federal sales teams to target procurement opportunities. This position must be fluent in these wide ranging initiatives recording and tracking their progress and have strong project management skills. The position will also be available to assist, generally as a subject matter expert, on an as-needed basis with other government relations duties at the Federal level relating to varied technology issues. Background and experience in any of the following issue areas is essential: appropriations, procurement, tax/financial, defense/national security. The applicant must have strong interpersonal skills and have strong oral and written communications skills. Prior experience working in the legislative or executive branch preferred.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Actively coordinate internal sales team and with outside consultants on a wide array of business-related projects. Assist internal and external assets with developing and implementing strategies related to these projects. Record and track the progress of these key initiatives and regularly brief the internal team on the status of them. Advocate for SAP's products before clients and potential clients in the government. This may includes attending political events.
Monitor hearings and trade association meetings to track GR efforts related to business development goals. Specifically paying attention to legislation and regulation that could effect how we position our software and services.
Respond to special projects as needed.
Identify new opportunities for SAP federal sales. Conduct outreach to associations, businesses, and agencies and other parties to identify opportunities.

Superior writing skills. Attention to detail and editing skills. Project management skills. Possess an extensive list of relationships across the policy realm in Washington. Bachelor's degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience working for or monitoring US Congress and Federal agencies. Experience in the software/IT/Tech field. Experience with governmental contracting processes and procedures. Sales experience to governments. Experience working with a government relations office.
