Director, Therapeutic Area Brand Support
- Position reports to the Sr. Director/Team Leader, Therapeutic Area Brand Support with the US Public Affairs.
- Within the Therapeutic Area Brand Support team, the Director, Therapeutic Area Brand Support will be responsible for the development and execution of US public affairs strategies in coordination with US Public Affairs field-based team and US External Relations colleagues and within the Primary Care Business Unit. This work will include development of state and national tactics and execution of plans to optimize commercial success of the TA, including access and reimbursement for both in-line and late stage clinical candidate, and public affairs campaigns.
- Key responsibilities include developing comprehensive public affairs strategies in coordination with commercial leaders and developing government relations policies and implementation plans to optimize access to Pfizer Primary Care products.
- The Director will also be responsible for providing support to federal and field-based state government relations and knowledge development necessary to positively impact the environment in their targeted geographies in a manner that supports Pfizer's business objectives.
- The Director will undertake regular and rigorous assessment of product-oriented public affairs and policy environment in order to develop, review and update a priority list of stakeholders, and manage plan of engagement to achieve productive long term working relationships for the Company and the brand asset with all relevant groups. In this role, a colleague will ensure implementation of the brand asset public affairs and policy plan by mobilizing appropriate USPA Public Affairs resources to enable implementation; in addition, he/she will collaborate with and ensure alignment of strategies within US Public Affairs and with US Corporate & Government Customers group.
- As part of the role, the Director will develop and implement monitoring systems to measure the effectiveness and impact of public policy and public affairs activities on the policy environment and on brand asset performance; develop and track key outcomes and deliverables; and develop and manage program budgets
Qualifications:
- B.A. /B.S. strongly preferred; advanced degree (MBA; MPH, JD) also strongly preferred. At least 5 to 10 years experience in healthcare public affairs, policy, marketing or consulting environment. Knowledge of health care policy and pharmaceutical industry required. Experience with targeted stakeholders strongly preferred. Candidate must have a demonstrated track record of project management, organizational skills and attention to detail. Candidate must possess excellent presentation, written, oral, communication skills and interpersonal skills, as well as a proven ability to work as part of a team.

- This position requires the integration of political, policy, and public affairs, expertise to develop effective strategies and implementation plans. The ideal candidate will possess experience in one or more of these areas with the capability of quickly acquiring knowledge in the other areas. The position will require extensive interaction with colleagues from a wide variety of positions within Pfizer's headquarters, DC office, field-based government relations and US RBU structure.
