The Corporate Relations department oversees external public relations and internal communications on behalf of The Allstate Corporation. Functions in the department include communication strategy, public social responsibility (including corporate positioning, community relations and corporate contributions), media relations, government affairs, issues management, The Allstate Foundation, shareholder communications, reputation leadership, executive support, and employee and agency owner communications.
The Public Social Responsibility (PSR) team within Corporate Relations advances Allstate's reputation and helps ensure that the company is recognized as an exemplary corporate citizen nationally and in local communities. Its programming focuses on strategic philanthropy, volunteerism, annual corporate social responsibility reporting, environmental communications and a variety of corporate and executive positioning activities including corporate awards, executive speaking engagements and officer nonprofit board placements.
The PSR team includes The Allstate Foundation that directs a grant portfolio in the priority areas of Safe & Vital Communities, Economic Empowerment and Tolerance, Inclusion and Diversity. The Foundation also includes the two signature programs of Teen Driving and Economic Empowerment for Domestic Violence Survivors.
The Allstate Foundation Teen Driving program is designed to reduce the number of teens killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes. Car crashes are the number one killer of U.S. teens. Each year, nearly 6,000 teens are killed and more than 300,000 injured in crashes. The program's goal is to change the way teens think and act when they get into a car by making smart driving socially acceptable to teens.
The Corporate Relations Manager, Teen Driving program will report directly to the Director of Strategic Philanthropy in Northbrook, IL. This individual will have two major areas of responsibility:
The Corporate Relations manager will be responsible for leading a team to:
Develop and implement integrated social marketing programs designed to surround teens with smart driving messages and involve them in Keep the Drive, the teen-led smart driving movement.
Develop and implement integrated public relations campaigns that target multiple audiences in multiple geographies.
Ensure campaigns integrate internal/external communications programs; paid/earned media plans (marketing and PR), national/local (Home office/field) priorities, and corporate/ Foundation strategies.
Build and maintain relationships with internal and external business and community partners and resources, including PR agencies, regional Corporate Relations staff and legal teams.
Manage and track deliverables and budgets.
Measure effectiveness of Teen Driving program and public relations campaigns.
The Corporate Relations manager, Teen Driving program will be the project manager for Driving Change (working title), the company-wide initiative to reduce deaths caused by teen driving accidents. In this capacity the Corporate Relations manager will work closely with the AVP Public Social Responsibility to lead a cross-functional team consisting of marketing, legal, corporate relations, government relations and Foundation staff to implement advocacy efforts on teen driving on behalf of the company.
Qualifications:
This ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience developing and leading philanthropic programs, social marketing campaigns and public policy work. This individual should also demonstrate advanced strategic thinking and planning skills, advanced project management skills, advanced communication skills and advanced relationship management and leadership skills.
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in public relations, public affairs, or integrated marketing communications preferred.
