Description: The Coordinator - Public Affairs is the primary point person for specific public affairs responsibilities in designated neighborhoods, towns and cities in the Haynesville Shale region. The Coordinator's primary role is to advocate on behalf of the company to diverse groups of stakeholders including local elected officials, neighborhood leaders, citizen activists, non-profit organizations, local government officials, members of the media, business and social organizations and other individuals and organizations impacted by the company's operations. Using proactive and professional interpersonal and communications skills, the Coordinator will seek to positively influence stakeholders in a manner that builds goodwill and positively shapes public policy concerning the company.
Qualifications
- Facilities information flow between company departments as it relates to communicating with external stakeholders.
- Develops public outreach strategies to disseminate information to local government staff, elected officials, residents and businesses.
- Participates in the assessment of community concerns relating to proposed initiatives; prepares for and conducts town hall meetings.
- Recommends opportunities for company to become engaged in social, civic, professional and philanthropic organizations.
- Identifies, analyzes and proposes solutions for energy-related issues.
- Creates news articles concerning company activities for Community Ties and E-News publications.
- Refers controversial, high profile or politically sensitive issues to director for resolution or response.
- Discerns nuances in a political environment.
- Prepares Fact Sheets, Project Updates and other related project materials.
- Networks with citizens, governmental entities and businesses to facilitate development of community projects and programs and to promote understanding of company initiatives.
- Attends city council and parish police jury meetings, monitors agendas and ordinances relating to the energy industry.
- Represents the company as a speaker, writer, observer or working participant on internal and external committees and organizations.
- Represents the company at fundraisers and events.
- Acts as primary point-of-contact for all incoming telephone calls regarding questions on drilling activity or leasing issues, as well as complaints.
- Looks up information on questions using intranet or proprietary software programs; logs calls; forwards to other departments as appropriate; follows through to make sure response has been handled. Investigates and resolves stakeholder complaints and communicates responses to stakeholders in a timely matter; processes calls and e-mail interactions with other departments.
- Handles a high volume of phone work and computer research.
- Develops good rapport with stakeholders and demonstrates strong listening and communication skills; develops strong relationships with other departments for dispute resolution and information gathering.
- Manages activities and maintains communications associated with building an effective Royalty Owners Association with leverage designed to advocate on behalf of the company's public policy positions.
- Assists in tracking and reporting resolution outcomes for use in internal and external reporting in company proprietary software.
- Understands, interprets and assists in development of internal department policies and procedures.
- Writes letters or e-mails as needed.
- Indentifies process improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
