Coordinator

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) seeks a full-time coordinator in the retail operations department that will thrive in its entrepreneurial and team focus culture. This position offers great exposure to the retail industry as well as operations and policy issues affecting retail. RILA members include retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, The Home Depot, Apple, Costco, Walgreens, Abercrombie & Fitch, Gap, IKEA, Bed Bath & Beyond, PetSmart and many more. Ideal candidate will be a new or recent college graduate with a strong GPA and demonstrated leadership experience. Applicants must have strong oral and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and solid organizational skills. Applicants must be self-motivated, independent thinkers with the ability to multi-task. Qualified candidates will be able to provide general administrative assistance and support for educational programming, research projects, meeting material preparation, and business development projects. Internship/summer employment experience in a professional environment with similar duties is a plus.

RETAIL TRADE ASSOCIATION COORDINATOR POSITION
Employment: Full-time Non-exempt
Title:  Retail Operations Coordinator
Department: Retail Operations
Supervisor: Executive Vice President, Retail Operations
Pay Range: Salary commensurate with experience, including full benefits

Position Summary: Entry-level position to provide general administrative assistance, research support, business development support, meeting material preparation, membership communications, and other support as needed to the Retail Operations department. Occasional travel may be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and support meetings for Operations staff and Supply Chain, Asset Protection, Sustainability, Finance and Human Resource Committees.
  • Arrange appointments, maintain schedule, write emails/letters and make travel arrangements for Executive Vice President of Retail Operations.
  • Assist in department special projects such as department's detailed strategy, future educational offerings, industry surveys, etc.
  • Provide Retail Operations research assistance as directed.
  • Assist department with writing and reporting responsibilities (i.e., writing, proofreading and editing of PowerPoint presentations, newsletters, issue briefs, committee memorandums, research reports, industry articles, etc.).
  • Assist senior staff with member committee support.
  • Assist in conducting membership communications to key retail executives and business partners.
  • Maintain Retail Operations department databases, website pages, distribution lists, schedules and key documents (issue briefs, position papers, etc.).
  • Regularly monitor and notify department of Operations news of interest to our retail members.
  • Arrange appointments, maintain schedule, and make travel arrangements for senior staff.

Education: Undergraduate college degree required; 3.3 GPA or higher with leadership experience in extracurricular activities.

Technical Skills: Microsoft Office applications, website management, internet research, database entry, data management, strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills are preferred.
Experience: New or recent college graduate preferred; Two years of professional experience or less preferred; Internship or professional experience in an environment with similar duties is a plus.  
Start Date: The position is available for immediate start; Delayed start date is negotiable.
