political organizations as well as a multitude of beneficiary
representation groups.
The UnitedHealth Military and Veterans
Services Communications Vice President reports to the CEO of
UnitedHealth Military and Veterans Services and offices in Washington,
DC.
The Communications Vice President develops and leads
communications strategies and public affairs strategies to meet
UnitedHealth Military and Veterans Services corporate and TRICARE
contract-specific requirements. This position leads all activities
involved in communications, public affairs and marketing activities
with the Department of Defense in support of marketing, stakeholder
relations and beneficiary education for the TRICARE program. This
person consults with Department of Defense, UnitedHealth Military and
Veterans Services leadership, functional teams and internal/external
organizations to develop and implement plans. Ongoing communication
with the press and all program stakeholders is critical. Along with
continuously developing an outstanding team, this leader will set
business direction, analyze economic considerations, be well versed in
government requirements, develop marketing forecasts, estimate costs,
and manage program/project budgets.
- Demonstrated communications leadership success in government, insurance, health care, medical products or highly regulated industry.
- Healthcare knowledge of insurance services, products, channels, and industry/competitive dynamics.
- Exceptional client or relationship management experience.
- Proven experience driving communication strategy and planning for senior executives. Reputation as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on communication issues.
- Flexible and resilient problem solver with the ability to gain consensus and manage sensitive situations.
- Demonstrated track record of developing and executing successful public relations strategies and programs.
- Excellent media contacts and crisis communications experience.
- Strong influencing and persuasion skills and an ability to effectively communicate with diverse employee and community populations.
- Demonstrated track record of working with senior management on executive positioning and messaging for internal and external stakeholders including hands on content development for presentations, press releases, podcasts, organizational change messages, video scripts, etc.
- Must be able to effectively and professionally present information, communicate company messages succinctly, and communicate to staff in a cooperative, solutions-oriented manner. Compelling and effective public speaker and company spokesperson.
- Demonstrated track record of organizing and executing high impact large and small events.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills for building relationships with internal customers, business leaders and project teams.
- Advanced degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
