Communications Department Coordinator

Put your communications skills to work for the world's largest, most influential aviation association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), with headquarters in Frederick, Maryland.


The Communications Department Coordinator will support the VP of Communications, and will be responsible for coordination of tactical projects and programs as needed within the Communications Department, as well as secondary support of all projects and programs owned by other Communications team members. You will interact with both internal and external stakeholders of AOPA including strategic partners.  

Responsibilities include managing the Communications Department budget and inventory, preparation of office forms including production orders and purchase order entry, maintenance of AOPA's monthly editorials and advertorials in trade publications, and proofreading copy. You will also coordinate AOPA's presence at various events, administer AOPA's community relations and awards programs, and
support the VP of Communications and other Communications Directors as assigned.

To qualify, you must have a four year degree in Public Relations or Communications, business or related work experience, and possess excellent project and time management skills. You should have experience setting priorities, while working to achieve multiple concurrent goals, be detail-oriented and work effectively under pressure, resourceful and expert at problem solving. Excellent proofreading, written and oral communication skills are required, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as well as communicate with all levels within the organization and with vendors, members, partners, executives, and the general public, as needed. You should have expertise in Microsoft Office, have the ability to gather information from direct personal interactions with individuals and from the Internet and other resources. Excellent analytical skills and experience managing and interpreting data, reports, and business briefings are required. Aviation industry knowledge preferred.
