Communications and Marketing Associate

Job Description: Links Media, LLC, seeks a seasoned Communications and Marketing Associate to provide leadership and direction for a wide range of communications activities on domestic and international projects, working in close collaboration with other team members to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate these efforts. As an integral member of a team with diverse skills and expertise, he/she will oversee the timely, cost effective, and high-quality planning and implementation of marketing, communication tasks and activities. Tasks may include strategic planning, report writing, development and task administration/ management, production and delivery of a variety of technical and creative informational, educational and communication messages and materials.

 

Reporting to the Director of Integrated Marketing Communications and the Corporate Leadership, the Communications and Marketing Associate  will provide program planning and implementation support to various Links Media projects. Because the nature of Links Media's work is fluid, the incumbent will work as an integral member of a team of research, marketing communications, eMarketing, training, and technical assistance staff to plan and implement a broad range of communication activities, with particular contribution expected in the area of traditional and new marketing communication. The successful candidate will be a strong, senior-level team leader with good interpersonal skills, high energy, highly organized, and able to develop and manage their own work program. He/she also will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong experience of managing the creation and implementation of an integrated communication strategies of various projects, ensuring Links Media's efforts are targeted in content, delivery, and audience.

 

Key Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic communications and marketing approaches domestically and internationally.
  • Develop concise, creative, and effective messages and materials both online and print for the public and the media.
  • Find and support opportunities to position and promote communication activities with external and internal audiences.
  • Conduct strategy for crisis communication.
  • Identify, organize, and conduct various events, such as media tours, briefings, and trainings, to showcase services, people, and products; Promote of technical and nontechnical publications.
  • Write and edit technical and non-technical documentation including project reports, reports to Congress, research papers on communication issues, articles, training curricula, etc.
  • Research and analysis of coverage and placement of information related to communication efforts; Disseminate of key information to the media.
  • Represent communications and marketing on behalf of Links Media and clients.
  • Ensure effective liaison among project staff to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of services.
  • Manage workflows and oversee staff progression of assigned project tasks and deliverables, such as:

-          Coordination and provision of pertinent information; credible resources; mass training broadcasts; meetings; etc.

-          Development and enhancement of pertinent messages and materials in support of the projects;

-          Management of content for project Web sites; and,

-          Development of pertinent TA resources (e.g., multi-media, kits, etc.) in support of project activities.

  • Collaborate and coordinate with partners to ensure ongoing information exchange that will be useful in the development and dissemination of messages and materials related to communications efforts.
  • Keep abreast of current trends in project-related topics, tools, and techniques.
  • Assist in Links Media staff communications and face-to-face client meetings.
  • Contribute to Links Media corporate marketing and program development objectives.

 

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • A Masters Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Health, Social Work, or related fields.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience required in communications and marketing, advertising, direct, digital, and viral marketing, sponsorships, promotions, events, etc. to wide audiences.
  • Experience/knowledge of public health, education, and environmental issues, social marketing theory and practice, risk/crisis communication, communications strategies and implementation and behavioral sciences a plus; Knowledge of U.S. Government Agency policies and business development also useful.
  • Understanding of Web communications, social networking, and e-marketing technologies (search engine optimization, banner ads, social networking activities and other Web 2.0 approaches).
  • Proven experience and success developing and managing strategic communication and information dissemination efforts.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional writing skills for wide audiences; Ad copywriting experience a plus.
  • 100% proficient in English; an additional language (Spanish ideal) highly preferable.
  • Familiarity with Latin America a plus.
  • Strong organizational and project management experience with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail; Ability to learn and apply new skills; Incumbent hired will have demonstrated the ability to efficiently and effectively coordinate and/or lead multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to learn quickly, to demonstrate critical thinking and mature attitude, and to make situation-appropriate decisions using sound judgment.
  • Must be creative and a dynamic self-starter, comfortable with taking initiative, and able to work under extreme deadline pressure deadlines with minimum supervision. As a technical expert, must be able to motivate others, as well as work in the context of cross-unit tasks.
  • Must be able to work under minimal supervision and work/lead a team.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with senior management personnel, clients, and others.
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office applications, including MS Project; Knowledge of other packages relevant to communications desirable.
  • Some travel required; must be open to working additional hours, as necessary.

 

 
  • Experience working in a high-paced, small company environment.
