The US Public Policy and Government Relations department is seeking an experienced professional to join our team.
Position description:
Based in Washington, DC, the Associate Director, will work with BD associates across the country in developing and executing federal and state public policy strategies that support BD’s business objectives and further the company’s purpose of “helping all people live healthy lives.”
The Associate Director will:
- Enable and execute public policy objectives
- Identify and analyze legislation and regulation with potential impact to Company.
- Drive key public policy objective working with collaborative frameworks of internal stakeholders.
- Represent the Company
- Educate policy-makers about the Company and positions on relevant issues.
- Advance public policy priorities through membership in trade associations and issue coalitions.
- Build stakeholder relationships
- Develop strong relationships with stakeholders in the healthcare, patient and professional communities by leveraging the resources of the Company to advance common healthcare goals.
- Support Public Policy and Government Relations programs
- Provide project management support for strategic public policy planning.
- Develop and implement internal communications strategy.
The successful candidate should have the following attributes:

- Proven track record in delivering high-quality, data-driven, and effective written and oral communications to internal and external stakeholders.
- Success in a complex organization
- Demonstrated and successful experience in driving public policy objectives across business units or equivalent experience in successfully working within a complex organization.

- A track record of success in building relationships with a variety of stakeholder communities.

Required experience:
Seven years experience in public policy and government relations in healthcare.
Experience working in a corporate government relations function, a relevant trade association, professional organization or agency/consulting work with healthcare clients on advocacy projects.
Education:
Advanced degree in public policy, public health, politics or related field is preferred.
