Associate Director/Vice President

Position Overview:

Waggener Edstrom Worldwide's Global Public Affairs Practice works with our clients to help shape their issues in the policy and regulatory environment and bring innovative ideas to light in major policy hubs around the world. Our Brussels office is focused on helping companies engage with EU audiences. We specialize in corporate public affairs - integrating government relations, coalition building, issues management and corporate communications to deliver strong and focused results. Due to our success in growing our EU Public Affairs Practice based in Brussels, we are looking for new team members to join us in delivering outstanding results to our exciting clients.

Responsibilities:

* Coordination and implementation of EU and Pan-European public affairs and issues management campaigns under supervision of the General Manager of the Brussels office and EMEA Public Affairs Director.

* Development of strategic plans and ability to counsel clients with confidence

* Guidance, motivation and training of junior team members (junior consultants, interns).

* Forward-planning and strategic modeling of campaigns including ongoing client contact.

* Building of client relationship and expansion of client work on specific accounts.

* Active participation in Waggener Edstrom positioning on the Brussels scene (marketing, networking).

* Active participation in new business related activities of the Global Public Affairs Practice (formulation of clients services, writing of new bus proposals, presentations, agency pitches).

Qualifications:

Education:

* Bachelors degree calibre or above in EU or political affairs.

Preferred Experience:

* At least 10-12 years substantial professional experience in the EU PA arena.

* Technology, ICT or telecomm background would be advantageous

* Candidates with experience with a trade association, NGO or an international company as well as recent consultancy experience would be preferred.

* Broad professional experience, including:

* Dealing with technology issues, preferably in a position providing insight into business imperatives/impact of politics and regulatory environment on business -consultancy experience (even if only as a client)

* Proven record for understanding clients needs

* Pan-European media credentials preferred as well as proven strong relationships with Brussels-based media.

* Ability to translate client issues into comprehensive strategic media programmes.

* Skilled in writing service proposals and preparation of agency pitches.

* Keen to take a key role in new business development

* Self starter and dynamic team player

* Strong leadership skills

* Self confident, diplomatic wih a high level of integrity

* Experience in working in a fast paced entrepreneurial environment

* Must be authorised to work in the EU

* Native English speaker or equivalent required.
