Job Description
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Monitoring and analyzing state and federal policy developments (political, legislative and regulatory)
related to the Society and its membership;
* Developing and providing strategic and tactical guidance for state legislative coalitions;
* Analyzing and tracking of state legislation impacting the Society and its membership;
* Maintenance and administration of legislative financial aid program;
* Monitoring development and adoption of relevant building codes and standards;
* Drafting legislative, codes-related content for Society publications;
* Contributing to Society public relations activities relevant to government & public affairs efforts;
* Working with director as appropriate on strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (required).
Minimum of 3 years of advocacy, government relations, Capitol Hill or similar experience.
Experience with state legislative and regulatory issues, and grassroots campaigns, a plus.
Candidates must thoroughly grasp society's state legislative, building codes and other strategic initiatives; be able to develop and provide strategic input on initiatives as necessary; communicate and collaborate effectively with volunteers and other members of the staff team; initiate, manage and complete work objectives independently and efficiently; manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and independently.
