As a practicing Christian who has a genuine sympathy for our aims and objectives and shares our passion for social justice, you will have a track record in public affairs and interest in the role that the Church has to play in contemporary society.
In this role, you will reflect theologically on political, social and moral issues facing society and help The Salvation Army fight for social justice by influencing public policy. You will monitor parliamentary proceedings and government consultations, identifying topical issues which are relevant to The Salvation Army, whilst maintaining the public affairs content on our website and representing us at a wide range of parliamentary and public events.
You will need to be familiar with the UK and EU political landscape and be comfortable engaging people including political figures, faith-group representatives and members of the public.
Key outputs include written reports of the achievements of the public affairs unit. Reports are produced for a wide range of stakeholders, including senior Salvation Army leadership in the UK and Europe. The role entails a limited amount of travel.
