Nationally recognized housing and community development association seeks a qualified and motivated candidate to organize and coordinate federal legislative advocacy efforts among the associations network of more than 22,000 members. Responsibilities also involve monitoring and communication of Congressional actions impacting upon the association's legislative agenda. Assistance in public affairs and media oriented assignments may also be assigned required.
Candidates must have at least five years of professional experience; excellent oral and written communications skills including some public speaking experience; two-three years of Capital Hill experience and/or a specific working knowledge of the federal legislative processes. A background in federal housing and community development programs is also desired.
Candidates must be energetic, creative and willing to present innovative approaches to federal advocacy. A demonstrated ability to communicate association positions, information and concerns is considered a must. Candidates must be timely, well organized; detail and deadline oriented and must be able to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously. Knowledge of a variety of databases, database management and skills involving the organization and presentation of information is also critical.
Incumbent reports to Director of Congressional Relations. Salary is commensurate with experience.
