Details about the Role
Humana Inc. seeks an
effective, dynamic individual to organize state and federal advocacy and
alliance campaigns and projects. The successful candidate will work closely with
employees at all levels of the company and, externally, with individuals from
all walks of life to identify, develop, and implement various advocacy and
alliance programs that engage our employees, members, business partners, and
third party organizations. The position is co-responsible for managing the
day-to-day aspects of an advocacy database and promoting program enhancements to
ensure that all projects operate efficiently and effectively.
As a
Government Relations Consultant you will develop and maintain key relationships;
work with assigned areas to demonstrate the company's value to public policy
audiences, manage relationships with internal and external individuals and
groups, coordinate events, analyze trends and opportunities; and execute
flawlessly.
Responsibilities Include
- Working with internal groups and external vendors to design and implement strategic advocacy campaigns
- Working with external constituencies and nontraditional alliances to achieve positive change for our members through legislative advocacy
- Creating and managing advocacy projects and ongoing engagement programs
- Co-managing non-technical aspects of departmental databases
- Utilizing new and traditional media, coalition building, and one-on-one relationship management skills and tools
- Engaging activists and volunteers at all levels
- Coordinating and conducting issue and advocacy projects
- Encouraging and leading individuals and groups who chose to participate in advocacy campaigns
- Designing and executing message-training programs to provide partners with the necessary information and confidence to act as supporters in a variety of settings.
