Administrative/Communications Assistant

The Center for Children and Families at Georgetown University's Health Policy Institute (CCF) is seeking an Administrative/Communications Assistant to provide organizational support to its policy and communications staff. CCF is a non-profit policy and research organization whose mission is to expand coverage for low-income children and families. The position is perfect for someone who is a self-starter and looking for opportunities for growth.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supporting CFF's communications staff in operating and maintaining our blog and web site, monitoring and providing research on media trends and, as appropriate, helping us to expand our use of social media
  • Coordinating and managing CCF's mailing lists, list serves, and e-mail communications pieces (including newsletters, alerts, and/or notices.)
  • Serving as CCF's lead organizational person in providing meeting and conference logistical support, maintaining the master calendar and filing systems, and providing general office support.
  • Managing the layout, design and production of reports, issue briefs, and other products in collaboration with policy staff
  • Providing administrative support to CCF's co-Executive Directors such as by tracking down research and publications, and scheduling and coordinating meetings.
  • Undertaking special projects as time permits, including assisting staff with health policy research and writing tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants should have a college degree and a minimum of one to two years of work experience in an office setting.
  • Excellent project coordination and administrative experience. Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Must be highly computer literate and technologically/web savvy. Ideally, experience with HTML, web and email content management programs such as moveable type and/or Graphic Mail, and publishing software programs, such as Acrobat and inDesign.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a dynamic, team environment for a mission-oriented organization.
  • Strong writing, editing, and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to tackle new projects as they arise.

The position is located in Washington, DC. Salary is commensurate with experience.
