With annual economic growth rates rising, more stable governments and increasing urbanization in the region, the World Bank predicts that “Africa could be on the brink of an economic takeoff, much like China was 30 years ago and India 20 years ago.”
In addition to natural resources industries, businesses such as Yum Brands and Wal-Mart are now entering African markets, while investment from the BRIC countries is expected to account for half of the continent’s trade by 2030.
