The Foundation for Public Affairs, the Public Affairs Council’s research affiliate, has just released a report on managing public affairs in Brazil — the latest installment in its series on working with officials, the media, associations and others in major overseas markets. (Previous reports in this popular series have explored China, India and the European Union.)
Brazil’s turns at hosting the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016, as well as a major environmental summit in 2012, are collectively seen as creating a “magic moment” for the country. In O Momento Mágico, the Foundation and author Elizabeth Judd examine how to navigate the world’s eighth largest economy — which is expected to rise to fifth place, overtaking both France and Britain, by 2016.
Through case studies and interviews with key stakeholders, the report — sponsored by PATRI — examines successful public affairs practices in Brazil, such as public/private partnerships, the use of social media and corporate citizenship programs.
