According to BNA Money & Politics Report, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia plans to pursue an increased number of enforcement actions against those who violate the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 and the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007.
The U.S. Attorney's Office has received thousands of referrals of potential violations from congressional officials in recent years. Since 2005, however, the U.S. Attorney's Office has not pursued any enforcement actions concerning these violations, except to send noncompliance notification letters to potential violators.
While details are unknown at this time, the U.S. Attorney's Office has stated it plans to take action against violators in addition to sending notification letters.Read a Skadden Arps memo on the report here.
