The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA), with headquarters in downtown Sacramento, is seeking an innovative and analytical leader to serve as the Director of Regulatory Affairs. The largest coalition of public water agencies in the country and the premier water organization in California, ACWA advocates at the State and Federal level on legislative and regulatory issues and provides a comprehensive range of membership services on behalf of its members. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director's responsibilities include the day-to-day management of the Regulatory Affairs Department including a staff of five and budget of $220,000, development and implementation of a comprehensive regulatory program, consultation to the member agencies regarding legislative and regulatory issues and the representation of ACWA's position on those issues primarily before administrative and regulatory agencies with some legislative involvement as well. Ideal candidates will be seasoned managers with five years of increasingly responsible experience in regulatory and legislative analysis, including experience in water resource and conservation issues. Excellent oral and written communication skills, big picture thinking with a creative and innovative vision coupled with the ability to analyze and interpret scientific and analytical issues will serve the chosen candidate well. A Bachelor's degree is required and a Master's degree is desired. The salary for this position is $117,124 - $152,262 DOQ and is supplemented by an attractive benefit package.
