In fact, government and public-relations professionals -- anticipating sweeping changes that President-elect Obama and the newly emboldened Democratic Congress will pursue -- expect to make a lot of money during the next two years. Those changes include everything from ending Bush-administration tax cuts to enacting broad health reforms.

Many industries are nervous that the Obama administration and Congress will impose layers of new regulations and higher corporate taxes. Some of these industries did not have to worry about such prospects under a Republican president, and they are turning to K Street to help them navigate the new political terrain.
Congressional Democrats hope to pass sweeping legislation in the area of healthcare, financial services regulation, immigration reform and renewable energy production. They are also looking to end corporate tax breaks while creating new tax incentives to improve education, combat global warming and solve many other policy challenges.
